Science 10: Lenses Unit - Jan 24-Feb 13

Lens labs (not previously submitted) were collected.  We did review for the Lens test.

We completed a lab on di and do with lenses.

B:  Wed Feb 5:
We did a lesson on the eye and vision problems (p. 9-11 in notes) then we did gathered data for the Thin Lens Lab

G:  Tues Feb 4  :
We did a lesson on the eye and vision problems (p. 9-11 in notes) then we did Lens Calculations example 2 on p. 7 of notes.  The refraction test was passed back.

B: Mon Feb 3/ 
We observed images in lens (both types) , then we took up the textbook problems on p. 566.  We did example 2 on p. 7 of notes and then completed the lens problems on p. 8 in class.

B: Tues Jan 28/  G:  Wed Jan 29  :
We covered Lens diagrams (p. 2-3)  and worked on Practice Diagrams (p.  4-6).
PLEASE FIX THE ERROR ON THE DIVERGING LENS DIAGRAMS.    F and F'  are in the wrong spot and should be switched on p. 5-6.for the Diverging diagrams.
Homework:
Complete the diagrams on p. 4-6.

B: Fri Jan 24/  G:  Mon Jan 27  :
We got a new notes package on lenses and covered the first page on parts of lenses.  Then we did the lab activity on focal length and handed it in. (For period G, we had a presentation on science options for grade 11)  (Period G we didn't do the lab yet).
Homework:
Lenses Textbook Q p. 553 Q #2,3,5, 6.  Think about your grade 11 option sheet and do some research on University programs and grade 12 subjects.

We took up both Reactions labs as well as p. 10 (Predicting Reactions).  Then we started the unit (Moles unit) with a new package and the lesson on the first page (Isotopes and Atomic mass). Bring these Moles notes to Test to work on if you finish early.

Prepare for test by studying notes and trying the Reactions Practice test  (on this site) (complete in 50 minutes under test conditions).

Chemistry 12: Equilibrium Unit- Jan 21-Feb 13

Thurs Feb 13:
We covered Bronsted-Lowry Theory, Water equilibrium,  pH of strong acids and strong bases.

No homework weekend.  If you want to get ahead in your work:
Do B-L Exercise in notes, p. 2,   pH and Kw textbook questions listed on p. 5 of pkg.

Tues Feb 11:
Equilibrium Test written
homework:
Finish Acid-Base Neutralization questions #1-4 on p. 2 of new package.

Fri Feb 7:
We took up Ksp questions, and started Acids and Bases package (p. 1-2)
homework:
Prepare for Equilibrium Test next class.  You will need a standard Math calculator.

Wed Feb 5:
We covered p. 14 on predicting precipitation using Ksp.  We also took up the Le Chatelier lab.  Kc Lab quiz was written..
homework:
Do Ksp problems p. 15  #9, 10, 11 (tricky),  13,  14 on precipitation prediction.

Mon Feb 3:
We did the Kc experiment and submitted our data.  Le Chatelier labs were returned.
homework:
Complete the Kc lab calculations to prepare for the lab quiz next class.
Do Ksp problems p. 15  #3, 6, 7, 8 on the common ion effect

Thurs Jan 30:
We went over p.9-10 on making approximations,  went over the theory of the Kc lab, and covered most of Ksp (calculating Ksp, molar solubility and the Common Ion effect)

Do textbook p.  476  #7,8 on approximations,  Do Ksp problems p. 15 of notes #1b,  2b,  #4 at a minimum.  We will do Kc experiment next class.

Tues Jan 28:
We did the Le Chatelier lab and lab quiz.
homework:
Check your equilibrium problems (p. 11,  solutions are on this site).  Read p. 9 in the notes and use the website notes to fill in example problem on p. 10 (p.  11 on on-line notes).

Fri Jan 25:
We took up the K homework,  covered problems on p. 7-8 of notes and briefly discussed the Le Chatelier lab coming up.

Be ready for the Le Chatelier lab quiz next class.

Wed Jan 23:
We took up Le Chatelier graphs (part II of p. 5), then we covered Equilibrium Law and K.  We did one problem on p. 7

Mon Jan 21:
We took up the rates test,  worked on the Le Chatelier Worksheet of notes ( p 5)  part I: predicting direction of shift and part II:  making conc. vs. time graphs for questions #1-4.  This is the topic of the first lab and lab quiz next week.  We took up part I. of the worksheet and will take up the graphs next period
