We took up the oxyanions exercise (p. 11), we took the quiz then finished acids (with organic acids) Then we took up the acid practice (p. 14). We did an overview of all the nomenclature (p. 15) and then worked on Review
homework:
Test is approx 45 questions and 45 marks; all written (formulas and names). It will be a 45 min test. Then we will start the next unit.
Thursday Dec 5:
We took up the oxyanions exercise (p. 9-10) and anions with Hydrogen (p. 10). Then we covered acids (p. 12-13).
homework:
Be ready for a short quiz next class (covering complex ions, hydrates and oxyanions)
Do practice on oxyanions (p. 11), acids (p. 14) . Make sure you memorize the 5 "root ions" and the 3 rules for alterations of the roots.
Tuesday Dec 3:
We took up the homework exercises from last day (p. 3,4,7)
Then we covered polyatomic ions (p. 6), hydrates (p. 6) and we did an exercise on oxyanions (p. 9- 1st half of p. 10) in groups.
homework:
Be ready for a short quiz next class (covering p. 4 and 7)
Do practice on polyatomic ions (p. 7-8), hydrates (p. 8) and complete the chart on oxyanions (top of p. 10 )
Fri Nov 29:
We started a new nomenclature package with covering ionic vs. molecular compounds, binary molecular compounds, binary ionic compounds and ionic compounds with multi-valent metals (p. 1-2, 5 for notes)
homework: Do practice ex. on p. 3-4, p. 7 (top 2/3 of page only).
